Can You Freeze Away Your Fat? | Possible

There are some weight loss therapies which make us wonder as to how people can believe in them.

Among the myriad scams that crop up every month, the most dangerous are the ones which help some people lose weight while causing others problems ranging from mild discomfort to extreme pain.

Without taking names, there is a subset of therapies being offered which promise to freeze your fat cells in a localized area and thus help you lose fat. In each sitting small portions of fat are thus frozen away.

The good news is that a lot of these procedures have approvals from government agencies and are not inherently unsafe.

The problem though, comes when you want significant results, at a moderate cost and with the least possible discomfort. As this Daily Mail article about one such treatment says:

It wasn’t painful for me, but others I’ve spoken to have said differently, especially on treatments on the abdomen.

More customer experiences tell us that one-size-fits-all treatments such as these rarely have the kind of effect they claim.

While treatments such as these say you will lose 20-25% of fat from the area you want to lessen fat in, the reality is that this results in just a few millimetres of difference.

You aren’t magically going to go from wearing size 40 jeans to size 32 in one sitting because you need multiple sessions to remove fat, one section at a time.

The disappointment in the treatment is best summed up by the Daily Mail journalist in his closing statement:

I shouldn’t have bothered, as I didn’t see any improvement in them at all.
